Born and raised in Louisiana, Kathy currently lives in Atlanta and works out of her studio at Urban Art Collective in Chamblee. She paints with oils and mixed media, exploring different materials, techniques, subjects, and color palettes. Kathy doesn’t hold to any one method for beginning a work and may start with latex, oil, pencil, ink, or pastels, working on several paintings at once, layering colors and mediums. She finds it to be a meditative process, yet also joyful and exciting because there are so many surprises. Each painting is a fun puzzle – the thrill is in figuring out what steps to take that will bring it together in the end. Kathy has a BFA from Louisiana State University and over the years has participated in more than a dozen solo gallery shows and exhibitions across metro Atlanta.
Kathy’s original artwork is available for sale at the Monroe-Walton Center for the Arts.
